I'm really, really still alive! I've been deep in the trenches of designs lately and I cannot wait to show you what I've been up to for, oh let's say, about a month now. It's all about some promotional material and I'll be giving some time to it later on in March and April. So excited!
Whoa, did your February just zip right past you? It was unbelievable. I did this card on Leap Year day, but wasn't able to get it up on my blog in time. It's using this weeks optional round Mojo Monday sketch by Julee Tilman. Go on and check it out, create with it or not, stop by and leave Julee some more encouragement as she's now in the last few weeks before she has her twins!
I eyed these beautiful papers in the local Craft Warehouse store and I've been saving it for my next Verve card. It's a new to me line called Simple Stories. Have you heard of it? There were a few 6 x 6 pads that were just as gorgeous, but this Generations set was the one to go home with me.
I used Julee's technique to create the round base of the card with Nestabilities Eyelet Circles die and Standard Circles die. I pierced faux stitching with a plastic circle canvas and drew the thread line with my Copic Multiliner (fav size .08). Before I glued down the faux stitched mat, I drizzled some Kaleidoscope Transparent embossing enamel around the edges and heat set from behind the paper.
The scalloped some burgundy paper and a few Sage Color Fragments glued down the top for a splash of color. Oh, did I mention distress sponging? Nope, I haven't yet. I sponged Brushed Corduroy around the edges of everything but the eyelet circle base.
The sentiment from the Verve set Text Objects is stamped with Tuxedo Black ink onto a kraft paper scrap that's corner rounded with my Corner Chomper. It's accompanied by a heart from the same set and I just had to sneak in a SCS challenge to make a banner from scratch that is popped up with foam dots. That banner is the tiniest thing and turned out so cute, I think. I used some of the striped paper from the Generations pad and snipped some tails on the bottom.
There is still some time to grab up some discounted Verve. The Text Objects set I used today is one of those sets.
