Mixed Media Fallen Leaves

This week is Lovely Leaves week for the Stampendous Team. We are sharing our fun projects with the newest PenPattern Leaves, Jumbo Leaves and matching dies. I made this fancy little card for Mix-Ability Challenge I hosted a few weeks ago and surprisingly enough it didn't fit the challenge. LOL So I made up another sample for that and held this one back to post for you this week!

Instructions

1. Create a card base by cutting a letter size cardstock in landscape orientation at 5 1/2 inches. This makes two pieces the same size 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches. Take one piece and fold the 8 1/2 inch length in half to a finished size of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches. Set aside folded card base and store the other piece for another project.
2. Create a monoprint by spreading paints on the Creative Palette with a brayer. Charcoal Gray, Snow White and sparse drops of Citron Green and True Red were used for this sample, but with monoprinting no two prints come out alike. Set aside to dry.
3. Trim monoprint to 5 1/4 x 4 inches.
4. Remove the free template from the PenPattern Leaves packaging. There are three leave masks in the template sheet to remove and return to the packaging for storage. You will be using the template sheet to stencil the leaf shapes onto the trimmed monoprint paper.
5. Before stenciling, check the orientation of the template so it will be the same direction as the stamped image.
6. Position the template where you want it and begin stenciling the darker colors (red, purple and garden green) allowing the paint to dry between leaves. Once dry repeat with the light green paint and let dry.
7. Stamp the PenPattern Leaves with Onyx Black ink over the light green stenciled leaves. Let dry.
8. Glue the monoprint paper to the card base.

Stampendous Summer in a PDCC Color Splash

Good morning! 
It's going to be a great day today for one little fella. My little fella who's turning 5! I've scrambled up a quick card for him using a Stampendous summery image, Balloon Kiddo.

I've got a fun little challenge combo going on with the card because I'm using the Play Date Cafe Color Splash Challenge, but it's a summery Stampendous Challenge card, too!

I quickly stamped the image on white cardstock, then stamped the balloons a few times on some scraps of blue paper. (There's no importance to stamping quickly versus slowly... I was just in a hurry to go to bed). I grabbed all the Neutral Gray Copic Markers I had and started coloring the Kiddo. Cut out all the balloons with my scissors and popped up the top three balloons with adhesive foam dots. (This is where I'm a little backwards, folks). I then cut out the image from the white paper until I liked the white space around it. I glued it down onto dark blue paper and used my c-thru ruler to make a perfectly framed mat layer with a utility knife.

I grabbed my Stamp-a-majig and positioned my sentiment over the card base and image mat. Then I carefully removed the image and acetate sheet from the "majig". I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Midnight Black Embossing Powder. Then I placed the image mat onto the card base covering up the embossed sentiment and repeated the stamp-a-majig process to get the rest of the sentiment on the mat. It wasn't showing up very well on the card so I grabbed my opaque white pen and sketched around the words a little. It's okay, but I think next time I'll figure out another way to get the sentiment on the card. : )

The last step was to create a bunch of random spots of texture with the color fragments. This was easy just by using the precision tip on my Liquid Glue pen and then sprinkling and pressing the color fragments down. Tap off the excess and my card was complete. I think it took me longer to write this post than make the card. That's really good for me, friends.

Summer Splendor

I stamped with Tuxedo Black and colored Dafodil Girl with my Copic markers, because summer also means coloring~right! Then I added the sentiment from Friendly Phrases. Then the magic happen. Every time I get out the Silver Halo Glitter Mix it looks exactly like the special effects of magic on television. So cool. It's my favorite and I haven't used it since this card where I attached it to clear acetate with glue. Today's card I used the Stamp and Bond from Stampendous. Just as slick, but you don't have to wait for the glue to dry! Make a note that I stamped off the page! If I had not done that I would need to figure out what to do with all the space under her legs. Keep that in mind the next time you stamp. I'm so glad I did that.

I haven't shared in a long time what Copic's I used for my color selection, so here it is. R's and RV's are her dress colors (And some BV shading). YR0000 and E50's are her skin and I think you can figure out the rest. I'm so lazy, aren't I?

It's a Summer Party Card!

This month's challenge is about some super summer themed ideas. I've got a card that I made a while ago and it's perfect for the challenge. These Changito monkeys (Changito Surfer and Changito Pool Party are soaking in the sun and that's all about summer. Their out at a sunny beach soaking in the rays. It's a bit late for sunscreen though, I think she looks alittle pink? LOL

I added some Taupe Color Fragments at their feet to give them some sand to stand on, because every card should have a little bit (or sometimes a lot) of texture! It's super easy, just spread some Zip Dry glue (or other drying clear glue) down and crumble some Taupe Color Fragments between your fingers as you sprinkle it over the glue. Shake off the excess and you're done! I'm really into texture this week! Everything is color with copic markers and a hand drawn border to tie it altogether.

Summer equals Birthdays!

Ready for another challenge with the Stampendous team?  Throughout the month of June we are challenging ourselves (and you) to make a card, project, gift, altered item, or a bit of home decor that is related to SUMMER!  That's right, we're celebrating the start of summer all month long!

Stampendous has the cutest KIDDOS! That's what they are named and it fits them so well! I've used Hula Kiddo on my daughter's birthday card today which it happens to be today. Out of the four in our immediate family only one of us does not have a birthday in June. It's three weeks of birthday cake for this family... yum! LOL

Back to our hop! I colored this dancing Hula Kiddo with Prismacolor pencils and then added some fun pops of color and texture with Fun Flock from the Over the Rainbow kit in purple, green and blue. I stamped the sentiment from the Birthday Assortment set and then I added some fun Chiffon Color Fragments across the bottom of the image by sprinkling them over some Mono Liquid Glue (you can see it better in the top banner photo on this post.)
