Mixed Media Challenge with Stampendous and my worst mistake ever

There is a challenge, a cheat and a life changing art method in this post today. I don't know where to begin!

Art method: I have been creating a giant taboo with my acrylic paints. I had NO IDEA I was tearing apart my projects in the process of laying down my paint. I'm mortified! I'm not sure the exact search I started on about acrylic, but when I came to "Worst Mistake Acrylic Painters Make" my search ended and I went out and bought some new supplies.

I have mediums sitting next to my painting case and I'll never thin them wrongly again. Whew! I think they like me again.

A Challenge. I'm hosting the MIx-Ability challenge this next week! Check out the challenge below!

A Cheat. Stampendous has these amazing collage stamps. They have new ones almost every release. It's incredibly easy to create mixed media style cards in minutes when you want some creativity in a short amount of time.

My card uses Eiffel Collage Cling Stamp from the April 2014 Release. There are also some great samples that were posted this week by my Stampendous teammates using more of the collage stamps from Stampendous.

Stampendous and May Arts Blog Hop

Happy Friday! Today we are hopping altogether with a big wow! Have we got some wonderful projects to show you today. I'm kind of excited to see them myself.

If you have found yourself in the midst of our blog hop, welcome and join in at the beginning to see all of our projects. If you feel a little deja-vu, yes you're here again, my Thursday post is in our hop as well!

My card today was created with Stampendous Glance and Vintage Press stamps. Coloring is done with STAEDTLER's Aquarelle pencils, soft pastel, wax crayon and colored pencils. When applicable I blended with an aqua pen.

There have been lots of fun new ribbon from May Arts that I have loved to just hold and run through my fingers, so it can be hard to cut into, but it was worth the trims to complete this card. Look for this brand the next time you need ribbon, May Arts! I believe I've used Faux Linen ribbon and white Wax Cord.

The last few bits of bling are from Stampendous Pearl Glitter and Shaved Ice, with random iridescent rhinestones. Black rhinestones for the center and then a flare of sequins around the bottom of the card. I went back and sponged Black Soot Distress ink to weight down the image on card. I've done this so many times and I wish I'd remember to do it before gluing down my bling. I'll learn some day, right?

Okay, here is the whole list of hops if you find yourself lost. Have fun, comment and chances are you might win one of the prizes!

STAEDTLER and Stampendous Blog Hop

It's the grande finale hop today. I've so enjoyed using STAEDTLER fine art supplies to color my Stampendous images. Thank you to our coordinators April and Laura for creating such a wonderful week of great inspiration.

It's so great that there are prizes! Oh yeah. Feel free to check out the details below so I can get right to my sample share.

My project today is a quick one. I stamped the Jumbo Calla Lily stamps on mixed media paper and then stared at it for bit. I grabbed two chalks and created the foundation colors. Then I lightened up the petals some more with a lighter color. I switched to the Ergosoft watercolor pencils and added greens to the stems and blues to the background. I did add some scarlet to the centers of the flowers. Now then, I had in my package a few graphite pencils and pigment liners to use so I just started doodling around the flowers. This is too big for a card, but I think it will be a great little framed piece I'll keep in my studio to brighten my day. :)

The Stampendous prize package will include one prize package per day (total of 5 packages) from those folks commenting on our bloggers that day. Our package will include SSC1171 Hot Air Scapes Perfectly Clear Stamps and our SSC1170 Soaring Sentiments Perfectly Clear Stamps plus a Jumbo acrylic handle for use with them. STAEDTLER prize package will be awarded at the end of the week, one for each of their bloggers from all commenters on that blog that week – package includes: 1 Set of 6 Triplus fineliners, pastel assortment 4 blocks of FIMO soft oven-bake clay in vanilla, peach, lilac and mint 1 Mars plastic eraser 1 Double hole metal pencil sharpener 1 Mars Lumograph sketch pencil 1 Pigment liner sketch pen 2 Creative idea brochures

And here is the hop list so you know where you've been, you came from Jamie's blog and will leave here to go to Jennifer Dove's amazing projects.

Color me happy with STAEDTLER and Stampendous

Its the third day of a colorful partnership with STAEDTLER products this week while we showcase our theme Up, Up and Away with new images from the Stampendous 2013 April Catalog.  You all know I love color, right? Well, it's not that easy to hold me back from using everything in the rainbow, but I think I managed to leave out... nope I got them all in, tee-hee.

I created a card with three sets (see list below) of new stamps on this card. After stamping out the Hot Air Trio in Jet Black Ranger ink (waterproof ink) I opened the glorious package of STAEDTLER Ergo Soft Aquarell Pencils and delicately started adding color. It wasn't long before I was using all the techniques and then some for applying color with these pencils onto the balloons. Dry on dry, dry on wet and wet on dry, and using the soft pastels as a resist in the sky.

I have had a set of the STAEDTLER Triplus Color pens that I've used on and off to add a solid color to a piece and also to use on journal pages for writing, but what I found was that they could be manipulated with water! This made the already vibrant color go beyond and then some.
There are some truly fun products by STAEDTLER and I can't wait to bring you MORE this Friday in our combined blog hop!

That's enough from me, now on to the give-aways!
