I've had just the most fabulous time creating with a chalkboard themed snowman card. This week is back to school and what is driving the Splitcoaststampers Mix-Ability Challenge! That's part of my card style today and you really must go and check it out with hostess Tiffany Johnson, for MIX135: Back to School ! I am also playing along, really late in the game because I had to almost unearth a stamp set to make this card today. I was set on creating this card, so I'm glad I finally look behind the chair, on the floor by the kids craft table. Whew! So here is my card... Happy Monday Morning! It's a new week and the Stampendous design crew have been up to double task. It's all about using a stencils and how to get the most out of them. Today I'm sharing something that I was so excited to finish, because it came together so quickly and it has all the design elements I was hoping to get in for the finished card. My Dreamweaver Double is using the same stencil with two different techniques. The first is stenciling with ink and the second is adding a "clear coat" of embossing paste. There are some mischievous mice running loose this week somewhere between the Stampendous store and our blogs so be on the look out for summer frolic of the small furry kind. My card today has House-Mouse Amanda quenching her thirst around the drinking hole with her feathered friends. I colored this delicate lavender framed feeder with my Copic Markers, did a little tone on tone for the background so that I wouldn't have to worry about making the sky smooth.  What I did for the sky is, I went over the background with my lightest color in the family, then went back over it and colored in a watercolor way, splotchy, with another layer of the same color marker then as I moved closer to the feeder the saturation number (second number in the marker system) went up on the next marker I used. Ever start on a project with not one thing in mind but that it be finished? Well, I did that for my project for this week's Mix-Ability challenge on Splitcoaststampers. I have a special someone that really needs an uplifting of the spirit right now and while all who know what's going on have already been praying, we sometimes need to send that unexpected card in the mail. So I guess I had that in mind as well as the situation while I went into the studio for this challenge. I did end up creating a rather different kind of 'Thinking of You' card. Usually these types of cards are bright and encouraging, but this card is scruffy and messy. Sometimes what you're going through is scruffy and messy, but the thoughts from others can bring us out of the murk to a happier place. I'm not sure I'll send this card off, but it did alert me to the fact that I need to be more aware when I'm creating to not let my emotions drive the mojo van all the time. LOL ...
