Fabulous Dress Sketch

Today is sketch day for InStyle Stamps and Taylor has an awesome sketch to try out for the month.

You really need to head on over to the store blog and see what the other Design Team came up with for this sketch. They are fantastic!

I've got a great little number for you on my sketch card. It's InStyle's Heart Bow Dress. I like how the dress has so much fullness and whimsy. A great image for an any occasion card. I made mine into a from Mom to Daughter card. Maybe for a first dance? It will be a few years before I'm struck with that kind of emotion, but this dress just make me think of prom. I heard on the radio a two minute parenting topic that has me thinking about how to build up a child's esteem about who they are and not what they do. I hope to instill that in my children, but only time will tell.

As you can tell I rotated the sketch so I could showcase the dress. I printed out the dress on white cardstock and then decided I wanted some type of design on it. Instead of printing out another dress on patterned paper for paper piecing I quickly made a mask out of tracing paper. I clear embossed with the Stampin' Up Filigree background stamp using Versamark, then colored the dress with Prismacolor markers. I wanted the dress to shimmer so I painted over the bow and lace with Close to My Heart Create-a-Paint and also misted the whole dress with Tattered Angels Marshmallow Mist for a nice even shimmer. The dress is popped up on grey cardstock using EK Succes 3D Dots.

The panel across the bottom is embossed with a Cuttlebug Victoria embossing folder and brushed lightly with a Cloud Magic VersaMagic Dew Drop then layered with a Basic Black panel and SU! Neutrals Grey cardstock. The sentiment is from Verve's Love's Flower set with Brillance Graphite Black ink and then cut out with a Nestabilities Blossom die. I colored over the sentiment with Deco Pink Prismacolor marker.  I used my Martha Stewart hydrangea punches to make the flower by punching out two white flowers, one black flower and a tiny pink flower. The two white flowers were colored with a marker to match the sentiment. I used my stylus on all of them but the black flower and gave them some curves. I glued them all together and added a drop of Frosted Lace Stickles to the center.

I think that is it for my card today! Thank you for stopping by.

Let's Celebrate Plain Jane Style!

There is an Anni-Verve-Sary party going on today! Verve Stamp Company is 2 years old! The hop started at Verve's blog , so come hop on board and see over 5 dozen projects that are sure to get your Verve on! I've been waiting for the right time to blog about this project and when the opportunity came to join in the anniversary blog hop for Verve I knew it was time. My blog hop project today uses all Plain Jane Bible verses from Verve. I saw this project at Susan Roberts gallery on Splitcoaststampers and went to her blog to get the details . I decided to make one for my mother as a Christmas present...in 2008. Yep, I just now finished it and I have the blog hop to thank. Using sketches would have made this a whole lot faster. LOL The two cards shown in the picture above use the latest Plain Jane release for Psalm 121:1-2 (hanging on box) and Hebrews 11:1 (in front of box). And I'll give the details below, but first here's a slide show of the whole year. Hebr...
