Stampendous Flowers in the Mix

This week the Stampendous focus has been on flowers. We hope you've stopped to smell the roses as you've seen them. It seems just as soon as we see the flowers bloom they are gone, right? Well the best thing about stamps is that your flowers will always be in bloom. Today I'm sharing Rain Flower from the House-Mouse Designs collection and it's also for the latest Mix-Ability challenge MIX105: Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head . First this stamp is PERFECT for the challenge and second the technique Lydia mentions is awesome, but I cheated out by using this PERFECT image for the challenge. Muzzy is just too cute not to use, right? Thanks for stopping by to see my project today! Before I get to the supplies and instructions, there are a few from the design team that are posting today as well. If you haven't stopped by to see them, or gone to the Stampendous blog to see all the goodies there you can click on their links below. Stampendous Blog...

Tea Traditions with Stampendous

Do Come for Tea,  this week's theme for the Stampendous this week. I'm sharing a pretty fun card today with teacups as the focus. I've been involved in a few tea parties as fundraisers, like a welsh tea and english afternoon tea. I collected some amazing teacups from my friends reception to host a tea for my friends. There was also a quickly organized tea for the women in my life who were supporting me as I got married. What a wonderful way to celebrate. I have a separate display cabinet dedicated to my teacups and teapots. I rarely use them, but I am ready for the next chance to take tea with someone. In the cabinet you'll see little spoons and sugar cube tongs, even teapot bibs so drips of tea racing down the spout will get grabbed before staining my tablecloth. It's all such a fuss, but so worth it. So it might be considered too much fuss for a card, but I decided to watercolor my Teacup Trio for this card today. I grabbed my Cotman Travel Kit  and sat d...

Creative JumpStart in a Mix-Ability Birthday

It's all about getting the creativity going and then jumping into a challenge. I feel like I'm a bi-athlete of mixed media right now. I've had a blast watching the artists in the n*Studio's Creative JumpStart 2015 Workshop . I didn't know what to expect and it is so refreshing helping me get looser in my creative routine. This project is my share for Show and Tell #2. My inspiration was the Painting Panel by Marsha Valk. I just loved her layers! I adapted the idea to use the new Rectangles Creative Palette from Stampendous*. I'm all caught up on the videos now and so I immediately grabbed some new NEW supplies! I'll just say they are fun and Stampendous has them shipping out to your favorite craft stores. Look for the * next to items that are going to be available to consumers soon. {wink} The challenge is Mix-Ability's MIX103: Repeat-peat-peat . Pick a shape and repeat it several times in different sizes, styles, you name it. Here's t...

Hummingbirds are Beautiful

This week Stampendous is giving us a close up look at the gorgeous Hummingbirds Stamp Set and coordinating Cutting Dies. I finally spent some time in my studio in the new year! Yes, it's been a looonnnnngggg time. I've been slowly getting through some knitting and sewing projects that I'm so very far behind on them it's ridiculous. But I've been watching videos from the Creative Jumpstart 2015 Workshop and it's been inspiring me to use my paints. The videos are just the perfect length for good information and some great inspiration to get you going. I think my background is inspired from the first few videos of the series. I can't wait to catch up and make some more art! So the end of my crafty time resulted in a mixed media card using one of the hummingbirds from the Cling Hummingbirds Stamp Set and the painterly stamps from the n*Studio line called  Grunge and Dress Form . The sentiment is from Say It Today  Perfectly Clear Stamp Set. Suppl...

Believe!

Welcome to my blog today with a project for this Christmas Eve Day. The designers at Stampendous are sharing some Inspirational projects this week.  My card today uses the Ribbon Bird and Unto Us stamps as the main focus, but there is so much more on this card that I'll list below. Last week I shared a card that used "Believe" on it and was meant to share the irony we sometimes fall into in preparing for this holiday. We can get ourselves caught in the worldly use of presents, parties and forget the humble offering that changed the world. Today's card is my comfort for the true meaning of why my family celebrates Christmas. I hope you enjoy the art of this card. Holiday Selfie Journal Time

There are very few times I have created an art journal page. I think it's just my perception of the old secret diary remaining a secret that keeps me from exploring the rather cool world of art journals. Someday I'll overcome it and you will be getting plenty of your share of my "secrets" in journaling with paint and whatever else I can find to use. Even so, I'm here with a journal layout. I say layout because it's just a sheet of paper that I, if successful, will glue into a journal and a date added to it. The layout is for the current Mix-Ability challenge on Splitcoaststampers. It just seems appropriate that their be a journal page for the MIX99: Holiday Selfie theme . I didn't think to photograph my steps to create this, but I'll try and guide you through as best as I can. Oh Well, Holiday Selfie for the Mix-Ability Challenge

Today, I'm taking a selfie! I'm not one to really take many photo's of myself, but today it's for a cause! I've taken on self-photography for the new Mix-Ability Challenge that I'm hosting for the next week. If you have some time to take on the challenge. MIX99: Holiday Selfie? There are too many things that get in my way of just sitting back and absorbing the wonder and the excitement of the season. Personally, I long for it, so when I finally sit down with my family on Christmas Day, I think back to the programs, parties, services, appointments and assignments where I do find the meaning of it all. It was there after all. This mixed media card is representing the moments that I really do need to believe that the message of the season is here and being seen and heard, even if I'm not paying attention. I created a few monoprints with two colors of green on my Creative Palette.Monoprinting Plate . While those were drying I cut down a pict...
