April Foolery, not! I'm posting today about an elephant! I needed something that was large enough to meet the challenge in the Mix-Ability forum on Splitcoaststampers. Easy choice with this gal at a height of 4 1/4 inches tall. Now why so big? To meet the challenge that Kyra (SCS alias, scrapacat) challenged us with was to make our stamping overhang on a cut rectangle ! See why I needed my large mammal? I cheated. I used my MISTI tool and stamped first on the card base and then added the rectangle monoprint (done previously and in my stash), but the tricky part was lining up the solid stamping I did with the foam stamp that's part of the Elephant set. It all lined up fine except the trunk, but then I really like how that looks anyway. I doodled in some colorful detail with some new pens, check them out they are water-soluble when wet and permanent when dry, Graphik by Derwent. No stamping required, just a pen and my hand. Today's project is a simple looking one and it's really easy to do, but it makes anything look a million dollars. Here's how I did it. I started out embossing the fronts of each container with a stamp that was the perfect width! I stamped  Cling Decorative Border Stamp    Versamark Watermark ink  with  Detail Clear Embossing Powder . Once that was done, I taped down the sides of each container. Hello and welcome to a new week and a great new product partner blog hop. Stampendous and the design team have partnered with Deflecto Craft all week long for some fun and new products to decorate and use! My project today is really quite fun and easy. I received this display frame with a black border so all I needed to make was a mat. The butterfly is an extra I made from my altered box last week, you know it's always good to have extras when the need for that embellishment strikes and this time the butterfly inspired making the flower mat. The butterfly was die cut out first and painted with a white base coat and 2:1 mix of Diaxonide Purple and Titanium White and anther mix of Phthalo Blue-Green and White. It was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then more detail paint was add for the spots and body highlights. It's attached to the frame with putty adhesive so if I ever want to move it or change out the style it will be super easy. The mat was made...

My project today is a Curiosity Canvas. It uses Andy Skinner's Cling Curiosity Rubber Stamp Set by Stampendous and a plethora of paint and specialty products from DecoArt in the Mixed Media product line! The canvas was primed and that meant I jumped right in with a 1:2 wash mix of Primary Yellow and Primary Cyan Media Fluid Acrylics. The second layer is a few brush strokes of Cadmium Red Hue and then once dry another base layer of water-thinned Titanium White.
