Letting It Flow and Fresco Hearts

Hello on a Sunday afternoon. I have a Mix-ability project finally completed in where I started Thursday amongst basketball practices, melt downs of my own imagining, dinner and art mom preps.

In all of that busy schedule I watched a fascinating video from NOVA about the possible process Michelangelo went through to create the fresco paintings in the Sistine Chapel. No doubt it was meant to be because over on Splitcoaststampers is the new tutorial about Faux Fresco. The result of this video was an additional prep for demonstrating this in class with third graders. Take a look at this video if you ever need or want  to do this technique - and I suggest not even trying the homemade version of plaster of paris.

Now for the long awaited MIX155: Let It Flow challenge project.

For the flow I washed on watercolor paper using a flat shader brush and then back again with a bright/round brush to add the color that would flow through the wash. I dried it and then repeated until I like the flow of it all together.

The sentiment is pieced together from Being Classy set by Concord & 9th and intensely solid by using my MISTI tool.

The very end of the process is to spatter white acrylic paint in the open areas for interest. Thanks for stopping by!

Details:
Stamps: Being Classy (Concord & 9th)
Paper: 90# watercolor paper (Target), White (Neenah), Blue (WinWorld)
Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko)
Accessories: MISTI tool (My Sweet Petunia), watercolor (Sakura Koi), Titanium White acrylic paint (Golden Fluids), paintbrush, heat tool, Perfect Layers (Perfect Paper Crafting)

  1. I love this. The technique is soft and subtle but the colors are vibrant and strong. The splatter of white paint is the perfect capper!

LOL The two cards shown in the picture above use the latest Plain Jane release for Psalm 121:1-2 (hanging on box) and Hebrews 11:1 (in front of box). And I'll give the details below, but first here's a slide show of the whole year. Hebr...
