Oh Well, Holiday Selfie for the Mix-Ability Challenge

Today, I'm taking a selfie! I'm not one to really take many photo's of myself, but today it's for a cause! I've taken on self-photography for the new Mix-Ability Challenge that I'm hosting for the next week. If you have some time to take on the challenge.

MIX99: Holiday Selfie?

There are too many things that get in my way of just sitting back and absorbing the wonder and the excitement of the season. Personally, I long for it, so when I finally sit down with my family on Christmas Day, I think back to the programs, parties, services, appointments and assignments where I do find the meaning of it all. It was there after all.

This mixed media card is representing the moments that I really do need to believe that the message of the season is here and being seen and heard, even if I'm not paying attention.

I created a few monoprints with two colors of green on my Creative Palette.Monoprinting Plate. While those were drying I cut down a picture I took from my Holiday Selfie photo shoot. Yeah, really, I did a photo shoot. How do you people take photos of yourself and actually get 'you' in the photo. It takes talent, I am without.

Next, I cut down the monoprint to fit an A2 size card (5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch card base when folded). I traced around my photo and then painted just outside the lines before gluing it in place. I didn't want to mess up my golden holiday selfie, right? Yeah, so I glued down my photo where the traced lines were and ended up smearing red paint on my selfie forehead... reprint, trim, glue down, but with clean hands this time. I carefully painted a little more red on the edge of my photo so it would look like.

The sentiment is from a Technique Tuesday set  I think, that I lost the packaging sleeve and a quick search on the internet for this set came up empty. If you know it or see it somewhere let me know in the comments so I can give credit. I stamped and embossed in Detail Black Embossing Powder after dusting it with an anti-static pouch.

That's it! Hope you find some time to reflect on the reason for the season.

Details:
Stamps: Not sure, I lost the packaging in a rampant cleaning spree. Can you help?

Ink: Versamark Watermark Ink Pad, Acrylic Paint
Accessories: Midnight Black Embossing Powder, and Creative Palette Monoprinting Palette (Stampendous), paintbrush, brayer, Zip-Dry Paper Glue (Beacon Adhesives)
