Distressing A Project Choice


There are more prizes to be had this week while we are distressing projects.

The team is being joined by two fabulous industry artists this week, Tracy Weinzapfel and Terry Sproul, who have rusted out some projects and you will want to make sure you stop by their blogs to say hi and see what amazing projects they have done. Now it's my turn to show off some distressing magic. I apologize right this minute for not have step by step photos. I had my camera all set up to take snaps along the way, but this rust technique by Andy Skinner is the BOMB!

After this step I just went to town and had a blast following all the stamping and painting steps in the rusty technique video. Here is the finished stack of Artist Trading blocks, which are the fun cherished memories box dies by Sizzix (link below).


Andy some more pics to show off the boxes in different arrangements. Haha. I used the heart from the box die and stamped the word "you" onto chipboard painted the same way as the boxes. I added a doorknob even, punching out chipboard with a crop-a-dile and gluing them together before paint distressing.

Every product that is part of the prize package was used on my project, with the exception of Andy Skinner's Cling Nature Stamps Set. That set I used on another ATB during the blog hop back in February.

    LOVELOVELOVE these boxes!! I am somewhat of a box addict and hubby tells me I need to stop hoarding them but I have never met a box I didn't envision altering! They are the perfect place to stash my goodies, give as gifts, use as gift packaging and oh so many other incredible ways to use them!
    Your box from February is absolutely scrumptious!! I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed in hopes of winning this prize package so I can give these awesome stamps a try!! TFS!

    I know it's supposed to be an article about distressing but I really like the second box (it's not distressed but very bright and beautiful) The scene is wonderful.
    The distressed box is great too. Love the map on the biggest box. A box inside a box inside....... is a fun idea.

    Love the distressed trio of cubes! You nailed the rusty looking paper! I adored the cube project from last Feb and I still love it! The colors work so beautifully with the scenery.

Let's Celebrate Plain Jane Style!

There is an Anni-Verve-Sary party going on today! Verve Stamp Company is 2 years old! The hop started at Verve's blog , so come hop on board and see over 5 dozen projects that are sure to get your Verve on! I've been waiting for the right time to blog about this project and when the opportunity came to join in the anniversary blog hop for Verve I knew it was time. My blog hop project today uses all Plain Jane Bible verses from Verve. I saw this project at Susan Roberts gallery on Splitcoaststampers and went to her blog to get the details . I decided to make one for my mother as a Christmas present...in 2008. Yep, I just now finished it and I have the blog hop to thank. Using sketches would have made this a whole lot faster.
