Monoprinting with a triple challenge

It's already Friday, friends! I hope you have some great plans for the weekend while it's still in somewhat warm in the northern hemisphere. Even though it's warm in my town, the mornings have a crisp chill in the air and is the most enticing weather for a cup of coffee to start the day. I think this card screams who I am, and my mom, and maybe my older sister and definitely my brother. It runs in the family I guess. Ha, that was funny.

Anyway, I'm not here to chat about my own cup of coffee, but rather the new Viva La Verve sketch + color challenge and the Mix-Ability challenge on Splitcoaststampers today.

Dina is hosting the Mix-Ability challenge this week where she asks us to use our non-dominate hand to doodle. Yep, scary, but it really is a lot of fun. Just practice on a piece of paper and you'll find that it's easy to repeat. 

For my doodling I added a small heart onto the mug. I did use a pencil mark to help me focus on the shape. I also did a border on the monoprint background paper. I used a ruler and pencil to create an even border around the edges and then I practiced the design on a scrap of paper before starting on my card.

Julee has a sweet sketch and color for us to work with this week. I was so tickled that I had this monoprinted paper to fit the color challenge. I love it when that happens.

I trimmed down my monoprint paper, randomly stamped on some coffee beans and measured and doodled the border before wrapping the Pink/Cream Polka Ribbon into a bow. A clever sentiment and hand-carved lino style mug are from the newly released Coffee Stamp Set. The mug has a die cut partner in the Cuppa Joe Set from Verve, a coordinating set that also released at the same time. A new super Coffee die came to the finish for the sentiment in a separate monoprint paper with more hot pink in it than the muted first version.

The sentiment layer background is embossed and rubbed with Margarita paint for details. The sentiment cluster is put together on foam squares and then a little pennant is used from the Flag It Die Set to finish off the sketch.
