Grace will take you beyond today

If you're looking for the Diva Inspiration Hop (and a chance to comment and win a GC) go to this post.)

Good morning friends!

I have a card for you today that was inspired by a grand day out with my kids. In the midst of our first week of summer holiday those sweet little ones that I cherish started to get to one another in the tiniest ways to where they were coming to me whining and crying, but then were fine the next. I decided we needed to get out and see some nature.

Our grand day out was a walk along the river path yesterday. We took paper, chalk and crayons for sketches and rubbings of natures textures we thought were interesting. It was refreshing for me to see all the wonderful things in our world that we can take for granted because we decide to stay home or decide to schedule our families so there's no chance of getting into trouble. I'm glad that we went out yesterday because it inspired my card with fun texture and color.

I've used the NEW Verve Grace Plain Jane that release this week. The mix of fonts are fabulous (as always) and go so nicely with my favorite flowers from Verve. Of course, I love practically all the flowers from Verve, but the one that I've chosen to use just happen to have coordinating dies (mind the dies go with the two smaller flowers.). I started with the newer set of these flowers in the Joyful Blooms set as a DIY pattern paper on a similar green cardstock to Certainly Celery. Then I grabbed a larger bloom from Great Friend to fill in some larger spots. The fun started when I stamped the solid image with Versamark ink and colored with Stampin' Up chalks. Everything just started popping off the page. I filled in with some leaf sprigs from the Hope Blooms set. The smaller flowers were stamped on chocolate chip and my version of certainly celery cardstock and die cut out with the coordinating A Cut Above die. The largest flower I fussy cut out and placed them on the Plain Jane panel with a few Certainly Celery sprigs peeking out behind them with some Chocolate Chip ribbon too. The card base is embossed with the Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles folder and the two panels were treated with a Chocolate Chip framing mat and some Buttercup Liquid Pearls. My center brown flower received a few dabs of liquid pearls too!

It was a fun card and lots of joy to do.

  3. This is an amazing card. It's like a picture of your nature walk. By the way, as an educator, I want to applaud you for encouraging your children to observe nature and for encouraging their creativity. Most importantly, you are creating strong bonds for you and your children. Blessings!

    1. It really is a collage of the day. The embossing reminds me of the river rocks, the flowers springing up along our path, the brown ribbon as logs and sticks we used to draw in the sand. It was a good walk!
