Spellbinders and Stampendous Spring Product Hop

We’re excited, once again, to be partnering with the folks over at Spellbinders for a Spring mini blog hop! As Spellbinders design partners this year, we’ve been blessed to use many of their exciting products, and we know their design team is enjoying the Stampendous products we sent for their use! Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week our Design Team will be sharing fun projects they’ve made with the Spellbinders products we’ve received.  Wednesday we’ll be a featured company on their blog and two of our designers will be posting tutorials for you focused on the newest Spellbinders products.

Here at Stampendous we’ve got some mystery Spellbinders dies up for grabs along with some fantastic Stampendous cling rubber so be sure to comment on our blog posts and those of our designers for the three days. See our Official Rules for eligibility and more. Comment deadline is Thursday, March 26th, and winners will be announced Friday, March 27, 2015.

Spellbinders has fantastic prize packages from all of their partners to give away each day, so be sure to visit their blog and use their contest entry tool to enter each day (one entry per day, per person). See the Spellbinders Blog for rules and a list Product Partner companies.

Instructions to come....

I apologize for the glitch in my instructions, but they are finally fixed and I can share how I made this shadowbox.

For the Zinnia, I used the photo instructions supplied on the back of the packaging. I used sponge duabers to create some petal gradation with Triumphant Red and Antique Moss. A deeper pass of color on the larger petals was done with Berry Red Colorbox Petal Point Classics Set, and also on the smaller set with Putty. Then it was time to glue.

Here's the Zinnia close up.

For the antiqued background I started with the Stampendous Creative Palette Rectangles larger palette in the set. Using DecoArt paints in Snow White, Turquoise Blue, Antiqued Green and Toffee.

Once the paint was dry I embossed with the 3D Shady Allure Sculpted Embossing Folder. I inserted the monoprint paint up into the folder, checking that when it was close the Spellbinders logo is on top.

To bring out the luscious 3-D design from the folder I sponged DecoArt Gel Stain in Walnut Noyer.

The detail really came out nicely with the gel, but left the variation in the monoprint come through.

As a nest for the Zinnia, I cut out the larger Triple Tear die and sponged around the edges with Mudslide from the Colorbox Petal Point Classics Ink Set.

The Triple Tear was antiqued with the Encrusted Jewel Technique (YouTube video) using Spoonful of Snow Kit, which uniquely is heat set from the back side of the paper.

The pieces were all glued together with Scrapbook Adhesive Medium Dodz and 3D Foam Squares.

To lighten up the background I used the spatter brush with Snow White acrylic paint around the edges of the background and once or twice on the flower.

The last to be added is Penned Love in Mudslide in from the Colorbox Petal Point Classics Ink Set. Foe some antique it was sponged very lightly with Putty and Mudslide. A few bits and baubles are added to bring a nice foundation to the piece.

You can continue with some of the Stampendous Design Team today and if you haven't stopped by the company blog's today they have a special sign-in to be eligible for today's grand pize. Each of these stops I've mentioned can be taken by the links below.
