Tea Traditions with Stampendous

Do Come for Tea, this week's theme for the Stampendous this week. I'm sharing a pretty fun card today with teacups as the focus.

I've been involved in a few tea parties as fundraisers, like a welsh tea and english afternoon tea. I collected some amazing teacups from my friends reception to host a tea for my friends. There was also a quickly organized tea for the women in my life who were supporting me as I got married. What a wonderful way to celebrate.

I have a separate display cabinet dedicated to my teacups and teapots. I rarely use them, but I am ready for the next chance to take tea with someone. In the cabinet you'll see little spoons and sugar cube tongs, even teapot bibs so drips of tea racing down the spout will get grabbed before staining my tablecloth. It's all such a fuss, but so worth it.

So it might be considered too much fuss for a card, but I decided to watercolor my Teacup Trio for this card today. I grabbed my Cotman Travel Kit and sat down for a little art therapy.

Here's the short of how I created this card.

Supplies:

From Stampendous:

Plus:
Watercolor Paper by Canson®
Kraft cardstock by Neenah®
Cotman Watercolor Pocket Kit by Winsor and Newton®
Water Soluble Oil Pastels by Smith and Binney
Monoprint paper (Creative Palette + acrylic paints + white cardstock)
Zip-Dry™ Paper Glue by Beacon Adhesives®
Twine from May Arts Ribbon®

Instructions:

  1. Make a card base by tent folding a 4 1/4 x 11 inch cardstock in half with a finished size of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.
  2. Stamp teacups onto watercolor paper and color.
  3. Gently rub a water soluble oil pastel onto the Floral Tapestry stamp and mist with water before stamping around the saucers.
  4. Trim image down to fit on monoprint paper.
  5. Glue image onto monoprint paper and then onto card base.
  6. Tie card front with twine.
