Verve Stamps Spotlight Hop Day 2

We're back with Day 2 of Spotlights and the Divas are shining our spotlight on the Geared Up set and Award Banner Die

To keep it easy on us all we've kept almost the same line up for the hop and as yesterday you came from Marisa's blog with her sneak peek. If you want to get through all the hop from the beginning just head on over to Julee's blog, that's where it all starts up every day.

If you've seen the other Diva samples you KNOW that this is one terrifically cute set and I was all geared up to create a sweet little birthday card, but you know how the winds of creativity can change and *poof* I created an "old man" card. LOL So, can you just see that sweet robot colored super shiny for your son's single-digit birthday card and then as he gets older you could rot out the color for an old rusty robot. Ha, ha. That would be a set of cards to keep and scrapbook!

Anyway, it was really easy to start since I had the Mojo 312 sketch in front of me and those gears from Geared Up were really asking for a shiny background so I just started stamping them around on Night of Navy cardstock (that cardstock never looks navy to me, but it's not Not Quite Navy) with watermark ink and then I used some Aged Teal embossing enamel to create some less used gears and when using the chunky aged enamel it can run away from the heat gun. Just zap it real close and it will create a fun splattered look. The "turning 40" is also from the Geared Up set and layered using the Flag It Die set with some fussy cut embossed gears clustered together. An extra strip of teal cardstock was textured with an embossing folder to pull it all together.

Your next stop is with Laurie! See you tomorrow and remember you have a chance at winning today's spotlight if you comment along the hop!
