A ~Wave~ to Enjoy

It's the first day of school for my little girl and I'm hoping that she will Enjoy the day!

I made this card with some new Verve from the Anni-Verve-sary release that hit the stores over the weekend. It only took two Verve products for this CAS card that I made to play along with the Splitcoaststampers 2012 Fall CAS DT Search on the first challenge to Get Your Game On.

The waves are a bit methodical, but I cut a 2-inch square of light blue cardstock and then made several passes of mono adhesive tape across the bottom half of the square. I chose four different blue (one teal) cardstock and cut out 2 pieces of the Flourished Trim die. I started from the middle of the cardstock and kept rotating and skewing each color until I made something like a surf worthy ocean. I stamped the smaller sun in Learning to Sail and colored with copic markers. The black frame is created by running adhesive across the back of the four pieces and overlapping them over the top of the blue cardstock. Once they were in place I used my utility knife and gently cut several passes from the inside of the black cardstock to the outside of each corner. Once I went through one piece of cardstock, I pulled away the extra. The bottom I simply tucked under the waves before cutting the corners.

Details:
Stamps: Learning to Sail (Verve Stamps)
Paper: Kraft (Wausau), White (Mohawk), Black and blue scraps
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento, Tsukineko), Copic Markers
Accessories: Flourished Trim Die (A Cut Above Die, Verve), utility knife

Verve 2012 Anni-Verve-Sary Spotlight Day 9

PARTY DANCE!
I hope you'll join us at our Release Party in our SCS forum.  We'll be chatting the night away, revealing the new sets in their entirety, sharing some samples, announcing WINNERS from all our festivities and just having a ball counting down to the time the release goes live on our website!  Oh, and there just might be a few random drawings from comments in our our Release Party thread so be sure to chat it up!

I'm having the "ALL IN" style these days. I just love how all the new stamps and dies all go together so well! Check out the Flourished Trim Die on the top of the Banner Trim Die in the top right. All I had to do was bend the banner just a tad and it lined up nice. Or how about the arrow from Stronger Love using it's coordinating Arrow Die. It's on POINT to the sweet party hat in today's Featured Spotlight set, Treasured Words. You KNOW when the name of the set has the word .... Words it's going to be all out fantastic sentiments. Word up!  My daughter helped me with the layout to this card and she's been waiting for me to finish it. I think I'll make a smaller version to go in her lunches. (She starts school next week. Sigh ) We might see it in a future Viva La Verve sketch (and unrelated to my card today there's a new CAS sketch from Amy in the VLV forum).

I've had so much fun bringing out the fun and excitement of this release to all of you and I hope you have found a set or two or more that you just can't live without.

There are Prizes: Verve goes all out with prizes and lots of chances to win them. Take the links for details. Anni-Verve-sary Challenges, comment on the Spotlight Days you would like a chance at winning and the Card Carnival Gallery! See you at the Release Party tonight (a chance to win by commenting there, too)!!!!!!

New Puddle (Craft) Jumper Day Post - Indy's Design

It's a NEW type of post not seen here before! I'm so excited to have my first Guest Puddle Jumper. A little something that I've been working up in my spare time. I decided once a month I would post about someone else and their fabulous style of crafting. So I managed over the summer to be on the look out for someone who to be the first guest. I'm so excited to introduce you to Debbie Owen's of Indy's Design
Indy came to my blog during the Stampendous Release Week Blog Hop and was the lucky winner of my blog giveaway. I was thrilled when she said she would love to share something over here in my crafting puddles! Now

RPD - So, your blogging name is Indy. Are you into car racing?
Indy - No, I never liked car racing, and I never went to an Indy 500 race.  My hubby gave me this nickname 20 years ago.  I was the first Hoosier he had ever met, so he started calling me Indy.
RPD - What part of your crafting do you enjoy the most?
Indy - I love being in my craft room where I can relax, listen to a book on CD or watch a movie, and enjoy some creative time.   I also love following blogs of amazing crafters, so I can be inspired, see new products, and learn new techniques!

RPD - What was your first Stampendous product?
Indy - My first Stampendous product was the Changito Pirates* Monkey.  I just love this monkey and now own several sets.  (Imagine how excited I was when I won the Changito Coffee stamp!)

RP
D - Any hidden receipts you'd like to confess?
Indy - Well, receipts aren't the problem...it's the packages arriving in the mail that usually get me in trouble!  LOL
SUNNY FLOWERS Perfectly Clear Stamps Set*
What a fantastic card using an iSpy sketch (I just happen to use that same one on a card too). The  sunflower stamp is signature on the layout and that Debbie fussy cut around it? You go girl!

RPD - Is there anything you want to tell us about you and your passion in life?
Indy -   I am a third grade teacher and am in the process of getting my classroom set up for the first day of school.  I love spending time with my hubby--playing games, going camping, taking walks, relaxing in the hot tub!  I have a 16 month old kitten named Catapult that always brightens my day with her crazy antics.  I'm addicted to card making and buying supplies--especially stamps!  If only my paycheck could keep up with my wish list!
Indy didn't mention she has a craft of a different flavor. She has come across a bounty of empty CapriSun drink pouches and turns them into the coolest bags! You need to go over to her blog and take a look at them. The yellow handled bag is my favvy flavor!

Indy sent over this project that she couldn't resist. She came across those packages of mini composition notebooks at a great price and has crafted a new cover on one of them. Don't you think this would be great for a teacher gift? She has used the Stampendous Dream Text stamp for a quick and easy pattern paper and another set called Clipboard Bracket to nicely frame that sentiment. Great colors and those embellishments are perfect.

It's been such a great time getting to know Debbie at Indys Designs.
Thank You for coming over and sharing with my puddle pals!

Verve 2012 Anni-Verve-Sary Spotlight Day 7

We are getting so close to the release, I can tell you all are wanting to get to the shopping cart by now. Hang on we have so many more sneak peeks and only a few more days left! Hasn't Julee just about amazed you with all these wonderful stamps and dies?!?!?!? Woo-hoo, let's get to the rest of the hop today!

I'm using the featured Learning to Sail stamp set and the Flourished Trim die on my card. I made the sentiment frame with the new Flourish die by cutting out two full length Flourishes and then two shorter ones for the tops. Once they were glued onto the sentiment paper, I cut the overlaps in each corner with utility knife from the inside to outside. The handmade flower and silk ribbon are hand colored to match some of the colors in the pattern paper. That flower is made from the Pointed Flowers and Scalloped Flowers die from this release as well. It's a bit of fussy coloring for a whole lot of satisfaction (if you ask this crafter anyway.) The card is inspired by the sketch over on the Anni-Verve-sary Challenge week forum. Julee and Laurie are the Diva Hostesses for that fabby sketch. It's totally worth it to participate, there are prizes, but the deadline is this Friday! Check out the many ways to win some new Verve by taking the links at the bottom of this post.

Happy hopping and see you tomorrow for another sneak peek day!
